About me
I have always had a love of animals, surrounding myself around them since childhood. I studied Animal Care (Btec Diploma) at Plumpton college, nr Lewes, England, in which time I volunteered in the local zoo as part of my work experience. I moved to Scotland in 1997 and worked in pets at home for a year, I then went on to work in quarantine and boarding kennels. I took some time out to have children and then started my own dog walking/sitting business Playful pets in 2007. In this time i took the opportunity to study dog behaviour , I achieved my Foundations in Canine behaviour management diploma and then a Advanced diploma in Canine behaviour management (AdipCBM). . My days are spent walking and playing with dogs, I have a great bond with all my doggy clients so continue my dog walking/sitting business alongside being a dog behaviourist.
My hobby is dog agility which both my dogs attend, I have been doing it for over four years. This has taught me a lot and developed a great relationship between the dogs and I.
I feel a strong bond with my two dogs and understand it can be frustrating when they misbehave or show unwanted behaviours but it is possible to change and improve life with your best friend. With your commitment it is possible to change your dogs behaviour , I can help determine why your dog acts that way , what triggers the reaction and demonstrate / advise you on what methods to use to shape new positive behaviours and elimination of unwanted problems. I have a keen interest in gaining more knowledge on dog behaviour and training throughout my life so will continue to learn and keep up to date with training and behavioural techniques. I recently attended a IMDT (institute of modern dog trainers) course on Canine aggression & Rehabilitation. I also volunteer at Dogs Trust School on a weekly basis aimed at preventing behaviour issues.
